This presentation shows how teachers can create thematic units of study that weave classical and contemporary texts to provide students with choice in reading material while still maintaining rigor, depth, and complexity, as well as differentiating instruction for the various reading levels and skills of the diverse classroom. Many teachers struggle to find texts that are challenging yet accessible to their students. This presentation provides teachers several ways to design units of study that incorporate multiple texts and that include the classics they love to teach and the contemporary novels students enjoy reading. The documents that follow are sample projects, question activities, and a term paper reading list.
